Jan. 2009 - Present

Living in the Florida Keys and South Florida, rebuilding a 42 foot trimaran.  In June, 2010, cruised for three weeks in the Abacos.  Served as cook aboard 70 foot Hatteras for short excursion to the Bahamas.  Accomplished in coastal navigation, preparing for U.S.C.G. captain's exam.

 

December 2009 to February 2011– Eyecatchers Signs, Islamorada, FL

Sign Design, Manufacturing and Installation– Assisted in all aspects of sign design and manufacturing, including graphic design and layout for boat lettering, and vehicle graphics. Also, gained some limited experience on Quickbooks .

 

August 2009 to January 2010 – Office Depot, Key Largo, FL

Customer Service Specialist– Assigned to the Design, Print and Ship Depot. Responsible for operating Xerox copiers, graphic design and ordering of custom printed materials, and general retail merchandising.

 

March 2011 to April 2011 – H&R Block, Key Largo, FL

Part-time Tax Preparer for franchise office. 

 

October 2004 to April 2008 (seasonal) – H&R Block, Indianapolis, IN

Alternate Channel Branch Manager – In addition to preparing tax returns, responsible for administration and marketing for a small tax office located inside a Wal-Mart store. Received recognition in the district for highest achievement in new clients with an increase of 94% over the previous year, finishing in the top 100 of all branches in the country. Before tax season, worked as a District Employment Assistant, coordinating hiring and training of over 10,000 seasonal employees. The previous three years, served as a tax professional, accumulating over 200 hours of tax training.

 

March 2003 to October 2007 (seasonal) – Enhancing with Plants, Indianapolis, IN

Self-employed Landscape Contractor – Sole proprietor for a one ‘man’ landscaping business including designing and building stone retaining walls and koi ponds, planning and planting new home landscapes.

 

March 2001 to March 2003 – Dammann’s Lawn and Landscaping Center, Indianapolis, IN

Greenhouse Manager – Responsible for maintaining a retail greenhouse.

 

May 1996 to March 2001 – Bell Industries, Indianapolis, IN

Various Technical Positions Under Contract – Technical support specialist for Macintosh computers in the design department at Thomson Consumer Electronics, and the legal department at Eli Lilly. For just over two years, served as database manager responsible for tracking over 2,000 laptops and their components in use by the field sales representatives of Eli Lilly. Also served as a purchasing manager at the Bell Industries home office.

Associate of Applied Science in Computer Technology- Purdue University, Indianapolis, Indiana

 

Technical Knowledge

Highly proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Publisher and Powerpoint. Intermediate skills in Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop. Limited experience in Quicken and Quickbooks, medical records and billing. Above average keyboarding skills, tested at over 90 WPM with 90% accuracy.
